Read this book bc it was recommended by a friend. It took me by surprise and I couldn't put it down. I was thinking- I'd like to see the movie version. Its sharp, quick, intelligent and really got me thinking about my carbon footprint in a way that wasn't putting on the guilt trip. This should be required reading for high school students and my 17 year old is going to read it. There could be so many activities to go along with it (no, I'm not a teacher, lol). The only thing missing is the sequel. I can't wait to meet the next generation.Product details

The Warming Season Lisa Ann Battalia Books Reviews
This book was a wonderful read. The characters were very organic and lifelike, and their reactions were believable in the face of the increasingly difficult moral dilemmas they faced. The overarching themes of humanity's self destructive nature, and also its ingenuity and ability to rebound and maintain hope made for an uplifting story. One of my favorite books currently.
This is a great read! Three crucial elements in making a good book--it be well written; its plot keep the reader's attention; it make the reader think about significant issues beyond the plot of the story--Battalia has met all these and then some. It's hard to put down this book, hard not to be drawn into the characters' situation and the decisions they face. It is thought provoking in dealing with climate change, an issue we all face today. Loved it!
The Warming Season traces the transformation and growth of Robby and Kate, transplanted to a place full of dangers and uncertainties. They are young adults, they are lost children, and we root for them every step of the way. The story is generously stocked with wisdom and insights into broader questions of society and nature. I found it highly readable and thought-provoking.
The story line was creative and engaging. A really enjoyable light and easy read that leaves you thinking about the past and future all at the same time. Loved it!!
This book is most timely given our concerns with global warming, and its characters' dilemma is compelling and real.
Their participation in a pioneering scientific solution is very brave.
In addition to the arresting plot development, the book has great value as a primer in making ethical decisions.
Well worth the reading.
Not knowing what to expect from The Warming Season and its new author, I had a very difficult time putting the book down and wished to have the time to complete it in a single sitting. The characters grow on you throughout, and the author does a wonderful job of taking what would ordinarily be a terribly disheartening story line of global disaster and weaving an engaging tale of hope, friendship, and love. I was left wondering what's next for Robby and Kate, and look forward to Lisa Battalia's next novel!
